Wisconsin Aluminum is excited to announce our venture into a
new molding process. We have just completed the installation
of a Kurtz AL 13-13 SC Low Pressure Molding line to compliment
our Permanent Mold, Green Sand, and Dry Sand processes.
In the low pressure process, the furnace is pressurized and the
molten aluminum is delivered into the casting through the riser
tube. The die is filled slowly and with constant pressure. This controlled
filling process avoids the formation of oxides. During solidification,
the furnace pressure is maintained which promotes directional

solidification from the furthest point of the die back to the sprue. Another advantage of this process is the reduction of gating systems, which will be reduced by ninety percent. This reduction greatly reduces melting costs and finishing costs.
Typical casting applications for this process are pressure tight castings, castings that require little to no porosity, and/or casting designs with thicker sections making it difficult to properly gate with conventional gating.
We are excited to offer Low Pressure as a compliment to our existing processes and to further our mission as a full service supplier. We will be contacting you soon to follow up on potential opportunities for the Low pressure process. Please feel free to contact us at anytime to discuss in further detail.
